Well, a day has passed, and I can say that I am a lot less emotional in seeing our country going to the Conservatives. Can anybody truly tell me that they can say "Prime Minister Stephen Harper"?

Good thing that PM squared resigned, he had to, and perhaps they can get a leader who'll bridge the Martin-Chretien Liberal gap. You could see that Chretienites like Copps, Manley and Dhaliwal, weren't too sad about seeing Martin lose.

We have become the United States in terms of the rural-urban divide. The rural/suburbia made up of evangelical Christians (how can Canadians vote for these stupid bible-carrrying people who want to force their values upon us), which can't be a good thing (in terms of their values), while urban areas are more multicultural. Tells us where the Conservative vote base was, when they are shut out of Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal.

Canadians can't complain about Bush now, since they have voted in his bum buddy. But the one good thing was the Tory breakhthrough in Quebec, at least the Separatist movement took a step back. As long as those idiots ("We wanna separate just because we are french, and we have more privileges than other Canadians!")don't win...its good. Also, I sincerely, hope that Conservatives don't go anywhere in terms of a coalition with them, otherwise I hope Canadians crucify the Conservatives.

I was most disappointed by the press, not just because of their endorsements, because they gave NO BAD PRESS to the Conservatives. It was all focused toward fairy tale scandals. One can not help but wonder, what kind of agenda there is. I mean how hard is it for the press just to be objective when reporting, in terms of coverage?

Also, did anyone realize how wrong those stupid polls are? What the hell, they came everyday, and they are total b.s., coming from wannabe Fraser Institutes (interestingly, only CPAC got it right).

Otherwise, this election wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, at least Navdeep Bains and also the NDP got more votes. I like it, although stupid Dosanjh got elected in my riding again.

Predicted next federal election post: 18 months.

This is for all of you, who think that rap has no meaning. If people actually listen to what they say, i.e. Tupac and B.I.G, people wouldn't dismiss rap as crap. Even I who thought that rock was just a bunch of previously spoilt, rebelling from society, really weird, white guys, give it a try now and then. One other thing you gotta know about rap is that these guys have came from the bottom of society (ghettos), and they know how it is to barely survive in the world's wealthiest country. The following is "Changes" from Tupac's greatest hits

"Changes" [1] Come on come on I see no changes wake up in the morning and I ask myself is life worth living should I blast myself? I'm tired of bein' poor & even worse I'm black my stomach hurts so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch Cops give a damn about a negro pull the trigger kill a nigga he's a hero Give the crack to the kids who the hell cares one less hungry mouth on the welfare First ship 'em dope & let 'em deal the brothers give 'em guns step back watch 'em kill each other It's time to fight back that's what Huey said 2 shots in the dark now Huey's dead I got love for my brother but we can never go nowhere unless we share with each other We gotta start makin' changes learn to see me as a brother instead of 2 distant strangers and that's how it's supposed to be How can the Devil take a brother if he's close to me? I'd love to go back to when we played as kids but things changed, and that's the way it is

[Bridge w/ changing ad libs] Come on come on That's just the way it is Things'll never be the same That's just the way it is aww yeah [Repeat]

[2] I see no changes all I see is racist faces misplaced hate makes disgrace to races We under I wonder what it takes to make this one better place, let's erase the wasted Take the evil out the people they'll be acting right 'cause both black and white is smokin' crack tonight and only time we chill is when we kill each other it takes skill to be real, time to heal each other And although it seems heaven sent We ain't ready, to see a black President, uhh It ain't a secret don't conceal the fact the penitentiary's packed, and it's filled with blacks But some things will never change try to show another way but you stayin' in the dope game Now tell me what's a mother to do bein' real don't appeal to the brother in you You gotta operate the easy way "I made a G today" But you made it in a sleazy way sellin' crack to the kid. " I gotta get paid," Well hey, well that's the way it is

[Bridge]

[Talking:] We gotta make a change... It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes. Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live and let's change the way we treat each other. You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do what we gotta do, to survive.

[3] And still I see no changes can't a brother get a little peace It's war on the streets & the war in the Middle East Instead of war on poverty they got a war on drugs so the police can bother me And I ain't never did a crime I ain't have to do But now I'm back with the blacks givin' it back to you Don't let 'em jack you up, back you up, crack you up and pimp slap you up You gotta learn to hold ya own they get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile phone But tell the cops they can't touch this I don't trust this when they try to rush I bust this That's the sound of my tool you say it ain't cool my mama didn't raise no fool And as long as I stay black I gotta stay strapped & I never get to lay back 'Cause I always got to worry 'bout the pay backs some buck that I roughed up way back comin' back after all these years rat-tat-tat-tat-tat that's the way it is uhh

I find myself for the first time in my life, in favour of the position the BC Liberals have taken. These teachers should be legislated back to work because they haven't bargained and they should be fined extensively for breaking the law. And no this isn't Rosa Parks...asking for a 5% raise isn't like asking for human rights. And also, this has nothing to do with students, teachers want a raise, if teachers got a 20% raise today, you think we'd be hearing of the 'state of the education system' today?

Actually, teachers have the best job..starting at 40000 to 64000 for a job of 800-330 with maybe 1 hour of marking everyday on average. AND THEY CAN NEVER BE FIRED!!! Unless they sexually assault some kid. I mean they are breaking the law because they think they are being maltreated, you see the irony in this? They are making a medium to very good salary with job security for life, i think 95% of people in British Columbia would beg for that. But you know what should happen, every teacher who is there until 8 o clock doing extra curricular activity should be getting extra money, because it is those teachers who actually love it, not those teachers (and we've seen many of those especially at Churchill) that come at 8 leave at 3 and are not involved in anything.

Also, I am very upset at another thing. I am now in university so I can speak freely about it, but if I was in high school I wouldn't have written about it. Thats because I wouldn't be able to protest against that at school, not because I wasn't able to, because you think a Churchill teacher would help me in references for university, if they knew I didn't think they deserved a wage hike? And though not probably true, it is no doubt more militant teachers wouldn't be very kind or favourable in marking (its human nature, not to be totally objective, it would definitely be in the subconscious).

So all in all, about this situation..I still hope I was in school because..damn it...I could have had an extra extra long weekend!!!

Let me start off this entry by saying I am not a "fundamentalist" and don't have "separtist links" as Kim Bolan likes to portray all members of the Indo-community who follow the Sikh tradition. I am also surprised that The Vancouver Sun had such little integrity to allow this reporter to report on the Indo-Canadian community exclusively for so many years (by the way, how many of their reporters focus exclusively on the chinese community or iranian community?). As we learned today, she persuaded the star witness to testify in the trial, thereby having a vested interest in the trial she was reporting, and thereby breaking the most important rule of journalism especially during trials: objectivity.

She also never presented any objective view of the matters throughout her reporting on the indo-canadian community and she was (as she mentioned) obsessed with "finding" separatist links in the community. She was reporting on the community as though we were an imprenatable gang that she needed to expose. Also, as I have mentioned previously, all her expenses on travel to India were paid the government of India, I wonder how many other reporters have got such treatment. Perhaps it was because of her bias against anyone who fought back (this doesn't include Air India, because Air India was the mass slaughter of innocent people) against the campaign of terror Indian police released on Punjab and the slaughter of 20000 Sikhs in Delhi.

Kim Bolan has been very biased in her reporting from the very beginning. How could a newspaper have such low integrity to receive stories from such a reporter, who has built on reporting on a specific community. And thats what I believe that Kim Bolan's whole motive was in this reporting, to build her career, because she was going nowhere without this, and now she is made into a journalist hero writing a book because someone scribbled a threatening note to her. And her melodramatic tales of how she is afraid for her children. I can see she might be scared because of the murder of Tara Singh Hayer (whose murder I thought would have been solved by now, but apparently it isn't as easy as linking it to terrorist groups as Kim Bolan says). I am sick and tired of this and am considering cancelling my subscription.

Sorry for the rambling, I know many people aren't really interested in this, but it affects my community and thereby me, so I just felt like venting.

Well the lockout is officially over and I am back from my holiday. I can't believe that this stupid NHL hasn't learned anything yet and is just trying to patch and build excitement for the coming year with a stupid gimmick like the lottery. They haven't reduced the schedule from what I've heard and there are still 30 teams in the league: what the hell. Great way to attract fans with watered down talent. And the stupidest thing is that those idiots in the NHL head office decided that we can only watch the Leafs or Sidney Crosby once every 3 years. Who the hell wants to watch Minnesota play the Canucks ten times a year? It's going to get so so so boring and not only that, everyone knows its just because the NHL wants to save some money. The only good thing that came out of this was theerule changes..except for the shootout thing...could you get less gimmicky.

And now we got all these stupid sportscasters getting so excited, and all they care is about their job and now that they have something to do they pretty much have to get excited. They don't want fans not coming to arenas because it will also hurt them. The NHL deserves retribution from fans but they know that the fans will always come back and thats the sad part. I hope that the NHL is hurt so bad that Bettman is fired, thats all I care about. Bettman being fired.

What a day folks! Looks like a Liberal majority of 46 to 33 right now. Thats crazy how a party went from 2 seats to 33. The NDP had a moral victory today and it was a loss for the Greens who hoped they could win a seat. Its kind of a like a new generation in the legislature, a kind of new world order in terms of new faces in the legislature. I was kind of disappointed at Daniel Igali's loss though, I really really wanted him to win, because their is no nicer person in this election than him. Everything including Wally oppal, Carole Taylor, and my work riding of DAvid Chudnovsky was expected.

The other important vote today is still too close to call and that is the referendum. Right now it is 57.5% that is yes and i hope it reaches the 60% and wins in 60% of all the ridings.

My experience today as an information officer in Charles Dickens Annex was pretty cool. It was awesome telling people where to vote and I also directed David Chudnovsky where to vote. I met so many people I knew and it was awesome interacting with all kinds of active participating citizens. It got busy after 5 and was quite slow before that, I thought the turnout overall was pretty good. I also saw how the whole process works with scrutineers etc.

And today the open wound of 331 victims of the Air India bombing was continued with the non guilty verdict of both Ajaib Singh Bagri and Ripudaman Singh Malik. But you know what, justice was done! Our justice system is the best in the world and was shown today, as one is innocent until proven guilty, so we cannot assume that they are guilty. We aren't the Americans who lock up people in Guantanamo Bay because they are suspected. All the media, the victim's families presumed that they were guilty before being proven of that and our system that preserves justice that doesn't look at political views, the person, but the evidence and balancing that evidence determined not guilty, which is that if you aren't guilty, then you are innnocent according to this country that we live in. I just don't understand this whole thing about people being disappointed, how do they know better than a judge who has heard this case and theat they wanted a guilty verdict. You would assume that the victim's would want the real killers not just someone to be proven to be guilty. But I guess i haven't felt the pain of the victims. And what is this about being soft on terrorism because of a victim, this is the problem of the RCMP and CSIS, not the judiciary. So the judiciary should convict someone even if they feel that they are not guilty, just to be hard on terrorism. I just don't understand. There is no closure for the family of the victims, but there should be a public inquiry. Basically, the judge determined that none of the witnesses were credible. The major faults of this case was the erasure of CSIS tapes. I could care less about these people I don't know them, and I don't agree with the accused peoples thought.

I am not going to talk about the NHL Lockout because as far as I am concerned it's all Bettman's fault. I am going to vent about Chris Cuthbert's firing, now that we have found out that it was just a that Nancy Lee, director of CBC Sports didn't like him much. This is the same woman that has fought with Don Cherry, almost didn't renew Ron Maclean's contract, and nevermind all the CBC mistakes that have happened in sports in the last 5 years. And, she is playing with our tax money.

Don't make the mistake that I think CBC shouldn't have sports in its lineup, it should, but they shouldn't have these stupid political appointees who know jack about sports to lead the departments. And its almost certain, thats there to satisfy those feminist lobby groups. What I've just said is pure speculation, but I am quite sure that is probably what has happened, because she obviously doesn't know what she is doing. I just hate this political stuff about hiring people because of their colour, their sex, race whatever, it should be based purely on ability. Its just damn stupid and just because someone says that women aren't employed enough in sports broadcasting, they hire a women over a more capable man or vice versa.

Superbowl was good, quite exciting, I actually thought the eagles would pull it off. The patriots are truly perfect almost a perfect team, I don't know how they do it, they seem like they are robots. Colts are going to win next year, with better defense, and Manning is going to be one year wiser, plus the Patriots are losing their best coordinators.

I am getting flustered with work and midterms now, and i can't wait until friday, when it is all done and I'll going to the bhangra formal. Its going to be a killer spring break, and then back to hell. Actually it hasn't been too bad, I especially like APSC 150, which is an awesome course, and we get to explore all of the engineerings, and now i've made up my mind on geotechnical/civil engineering.

Another thing, I don't understand why I have all my midterms before the midterm break, isn't that break there to study for midterms?

Woah, had a near death experience, thank God for that doctor!

Well, to update, my clavicle still hasn't recovered from the accident, and with it my chance of finally winning the BC Juniors in squash. I've came second so many times, but to be stumped in the final.

Also, my case might be going to court, I might not get much money, but its not about money for me. I was injured and suffered for half a year and couldn't do any activity, grades falling because my constant need for tylenol 3 because of the pain, and the driver gets off scot-free, even with it being her mistake, in my view.

School is bringing it on again, but this term seems a lot better, because we are doing stuff that i actually like doing in engineering, even though they are giving us so much homework.

Btw, Get your vote on!

ARGOS will win the Grey Cup guaranteed! It was totally awesome today..1 to 7 of premium football, with 107 000 people watching it live. I was so excited with the Lions win, which Saskatchewan lost, I've got to admit, well actually McCallum lost. But it was pretty exciting, and if Mahony keeps going like this he might become the next Lui.

Then right after that some good low scoring Argos game. They kicked ass, especially Calvillo, who was knocked out by their defence. They took that momentum and won the game. The CFL is damn exciting, and the gaqme was a lot better than the one that I saw at QWest Stadium.

The excitement will be at a greater level next Sunday!!!

I want to write this in the 20th anniversary remembrance of the 20 000 Sikhs who died in the November 1984 pogroms in Delhi, Kanpur, and many other Indian cities after Indira Gandhi was assasinated by two Sikh bodyguards in revenge for her attack on Sikhism's Vatican, the Golden Temple. All of those who died in the systematic and planned rapes, tortures, and murders were innocent bystanders. Eyewitness accounts by Hindu bystanders and survivors saw people with tires around them burning as crowds cheered, bodies being loaded up into trucks, and police directing them to the next Sikh house. All of this while Congress leaders guided them, and told them that they had 48 hours and handed out lists to assist in this massacre. Those same leaders and monsters, not ONE has been taken to jail yet.

Whole families were wiped out and other horrific details that were witnessed by many people. I will never say that Hindus committed this, but this was communal violence at its very worst done by barbarians who call themselves Hindus. How this could have happened in an India where those same Sikhs contributed 90% of the sacrifices to the independence is a betrayal that I hope Sikhs never forget.

This may have happened before I was born, but other educated Sikh youth including me have been hurt by this just as much as those who lived through it, and I am lucky that no one from my family was hurt in that. All I can hope is that those responsible be brought to justice and that Sikhs worldwide remember the sacrifices of 20 000 innocent people whose only crime was that they were Sikh.

Looks like i haven't blogged in...hmmm. 2 months. Well lets just say a lot's happened since then including trips and new experiences. University has been a new experience and almost like starting from scratch socially and academically and i am enjoying that opportunity to broaden my horizons. Its like I have been given new life, and thats happened for more reasons than just university. I hope I change for the better because life's too short.

Wake up at 6 am and go home at 6pm...thats the life of an Engineer at UBC. It is really piling on. Speaking of that I've got to finish physics...ahhhh!! This is a lot worse than I.B. already.

My biggest problem so far this summer has been solved. Those annoying kids in my neighbourhood have been stopped from their hooligan ways. I went out there and really gave it to them, for their rowdy behaviour, and trust me, they won't be bothering me for a while.

Before you think that i am an old miser, these kids have had it coming to them. They've broken some of our fence, and have been wrecking havoc on our property. And they've been running through our yard basically bowling over chairs and stuff in their. I wasn't that bad when i was a child for sure, I'd never wreck any property. Kids these days!

I have pretty much quit work, because I don't like driving to Burnaby or Delta. So I am just going to go to the Student for Hire Office and do odd jobs each day or whenever I want. In other news, the new cabinet was named, which didn't bear any surprises, except Dosanjh who has a got a very senior cabinet post, and if he ever ascends to the PM job, I'll have to move out of this country. I could not live in a country where the citizens are so stupid as to elect him, as they were in the U.S. to elect Bush. At least we still have independent thinkers here, the U.S. is a full of a bunch of sheep, who believe everything there president says and label those who don't as unpatriotic. Same guys who couldn't learn from the gaffe of the Vietnam War, and began vicious verbal assaults at any who opposed this war at March of last year. I had wished that Dhaliwal had become a more senior minister than Dosanjh, he is more concerned about Canadians than himself.

I guess tomorrow is going to be another boring day, oh well.

I am so tired, the side of my leg is full of cuts and road rash, and I am stiff all over and for some reason my extended family wants to do the Chief. It's good training though.

In other news, UBC is screwing us over, by making USP a 1 year program and the other years some Trek thing is only 1500 and when my cousin went it 2500 with less stringent standards. And we are getting our provincial results next week, which are now basically for the scholarship, because a great many people I know did a lot better than expected on their IB results. And yes I am still pissed that I got a 5 in English.

This has had to be one of the most eventful weeks of the summer yet. Lot of outings starting on Sunday with family and then friends, and same from Monday to Wednesday. And it culminated with today. My god, I thought I'd never have as much fun as I did at Splashdown Park. 3.5 hours on all the rides, water park stuff is great. I loved every minute of it, and a good part of my family was there including many of my cousins. The Kamikaze, the Black Hole, Oliver Twist and many other good rides. It might be meant for kids, but i had some good good fun, and the scenery was good..lol.

But the day didn't end there. I got back and went straight for golfing at Langara. It is a million times harder than a pitch and putt, so if you struggle there, don't even think of coming to real golf courses. I started off bad, with double bogeys, but then i got going, with a whopping 250 yard drive on a par 5 which ended as a bogey, and then 3 straight pars. By the 10th hole it was too dark, so we left. Played super sunset which was damn cheap, only 10 bucks.

And now tomorrow i got biking in the morning and movies in the afternoon. I took 3 days off work, for these two days, and I am sure they won't miss me. Help building log homes in Delta for some company that gives only piece work, means I am getting screwed over for wages, but still make on average 9-10 bucks an hour. I called another place and i might get a job at a New West Company for 11 bucks an hour. This construction stuff is tough, but tough manual labour is an experience that i'll need in my life, and this is quite valuable. I love this job jumping, this is my second construction job already. There is a great demand for housing, and its helping me get some good money and good wages.
